Is A Group Retreat Right For Me?

If you’re asking the question, then we have a feeling you might already know the answer! But if you’re having doubts as to whether a group retreat might be outside of your comfort zone, maybe we can answer a few of your questions.

What is a group retreat?

A group retreat is an immersive spiritual, health or wellbeing experience where a group of people come together, usually in a scenic or peaceful location, to focus on personal growth, wellness, and/or build connection. These retreats provide a dedicated space and time for participants to step away from their daily routines and engage in yoga practices and/or workshops, and activities such as meditation and healing in group settings to foster connection and work on self-reflection, and rejuvenation.

How many people typically attend a group retreat?

The size of a group retreat can vary, but at Glow we prefer small, intimate group settings of around 12 people so that we can tailor the experience to every individual and ensure that everyone gets the most from the retreat.

What do group retreats look like at Glow?

We offer a diverse range of yoga practices as part of our wellness and mindfulness retreats. They include twice-daily yoga sessions, with the morning practices being deeply flowing, strengthening, and inspiring, while the evening practices are gentle and calming.

In addition to the dynamic and restorative yoga classes, the retreats also incorporate uplifting beach yoga sessions. Unique guided yoga nidra and breathwork practices are woven throughout the retreat experience to help participants reconnect with their body and still their mind. We believe in the healing power of connection through shared practice, which is why our group retreats can be so transformative. And what better way to find connection than over a delicious, healing healthy meal, of which you’ll find plenty on a Glow Retreat, too.

Can you attend a group retreat alone?

Absolutely! Many people choose to attend group retreats on their own, as these experiences can be incredibly transformative for personal growth and self-discovery. We always ensure that Glow group retreats provide a supportive and welcoming environment where solo travellers can connect with like-minded individuals, forge new friendships, and immerse themselves in our activities and teachings.

Do you have to socialise on a group retreat?

No, we welcome introverts, too! While most people choose to open up and form connections over the course of a group retreat, some come with a friend or partner and choose not to socialise, while others are on their own path and not looking to integrate with the group over the course of their stay. And that’s absolutely fine. While group retreats encourage connection and community, you don't have to feel obligated to socialise constantly. Our retreats offer a balance of group activities and individual time, allowing guests to engage with the group as much or as little as they feel comfortable. We understand the need for personal space and reflection, and we create an atmosphere that respects each individual's comfort level. But you might surprise yourself and be the life and soul!

What are the benefits of a group retreat?

Participating in a group retreat can offer a wealth of benefits, including:

  1. Deeper Self-Exploration: The focused, distraction-free environment of a retreat provides an opportunity for profound self-reflection, allowing participants to gain clarity, uncover limiting beliefs, and cultivate self-awareness.

  2. Stress Reduction: The peaceful setting, mindfulness practices, and overall retreat experience can help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and improve overall well-being.

  3. Improved Yoga Practice: Our strengthening and restorative daily yoga practices are one of the main reasons we have so many repeat visitors. Many go away saying they feel they have improved their practice, and that they feel more in touch with themselves and their bodies than ever. Working in a group setting can really help with this.

  4. Meaningful Connections: Retreats foster a sense of community and connection, enabling participants to build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals and form a supportive network.

  5. Renewed Inspiration: Stepping away from daily routines and immersing oneself in a retreat can reignite creativity, passion, and a sense of purpose, helping participants return to their lives feeling rejuvenated and inspired.

Whether you're seeking personal growth, wellness, or a chance to connect with others, a group retreat at Glow Retreats can be a truly transformative experience.
